Our Story

ONAMU is a lifestyle blog about travel and food. Dedicated for Malaysians, you may find useful travel tips, inspiration and recipes with easy to follow step-by-step in Bahasa Malaysia on this site.

Begun as an online shop and later emerged as a blog, ONAMU is the internet baby of Sakirah & Ainun. We are two aspiring entrepreneurs who enjoy travelling so much.

A Humble Beginning

We first ventured into business by selling bags offline. Our early customers were among family and friends to whom we are forever grateful for the support. Back then, we were both jobless and had very little knowledge of business. With a big leap of faith, we took the rocky path and since then, everyday was a learning process. Due to some circumstances, we had to take a long break from our business until two years later, inspired by our travel experience, we are back in business again.

Unlike business, travelling wasn’t a newfound hobby for us. Since we were kids, we have always dreamed of travelling the world. We started to collect newspapers, read travel mags and blogs, follow famous insta-travelers and travel hashtag, join travel-related online group and for once, ‘owned’ Big Book of the World which we had gone crazy from page to page.

To travel is to live.

We finally set our feet outside of our homeland in 2018. The experience opened our eyes, broadened our minds and eventually we discovered new opportunities for our business. In fact, the name ONAMU itself is inspired by the name of the airport from our first trip abroad.

Our Purpose

We want to motivate others the same way travelling has inspired us. Through ONAMU, we hope we can grow an inspiring and positive community of travelers alike, encouraging people to go off the beaten path and wander on this vast land even if it is just their neighboring city.
